ClamWin is the free antivirus program that comes from the open-source community.
It comes with classic options such as Scanning Scheduler, Windows Explorer rght-click integration and automatic virus database updates. ClamWin also works as a Standalone Virus Scanner and provides an addin for Microsoft Outlook.
The on-file-access real-time scanner is missing from this free antivirus, so to scan a file, to check if it is clean or to detect the virus if it is the case, you will need to launch it manually.
