In spite of its simple appearance, WinRAR is one of the most complex archive manager and file compression utility. It has the capacity to backup data, you can use it to reduce size of email attachments, to decompress RAR and ZIP archives, and also almost any file downloaded over the Internet and to compress and make new archives in either RAR or ZIP file format.
Among the archive files that can be handled by WinRar are the well-known ZIP, RAR, ACE, CAB formats, the older ARJ as well as LZH, TAR, GZ, BZ2, UUE, JAR, ISO, 7Z and Z.
