Darik's Boot and Nuke or DBAN for short was built as a bootable program that may be run from a CD and that can be used to securely erase the hard disk for permanently removing the files saved on it. It will detect and delete the whole hard drive's content in a secure bulk way, files, folders, boot sector and file allocation tables so it is a safe solution for definitive data destruction.
